FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE

Dr. Matt Lewis, D.C., CFMP, specializes in diagnosing and treating the symptoms

of chronic and unexplained illness through lab testing, followed by nutrition,

lifestyle, chiropractic, and other natural approaches to holistic healing.  He earned his B.S. in Biology from Shenandoah University, his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life University, his CFMP from the Functional Medicine University Institute of Functional Medicine, and his certification as a Digestive Health Specialist (DHS) through the Food Enzyme Institute. Dr. Lewis is currently pursuing Diplomate status in Clinical Nutrition through the American Board of Clinical Nutrition.

Dr. Lewis’ passion for health and holistic wellness stems from his own personal

experience. With a family history of autoimmune conditions and diabetes, and his own lab tests showing his genetic susceptibility to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (autoimmune thyroid), he has learned how to restore his own health and vigor to prevent the onset of these illnesses and live an incredibly active life. Through this process, he acquired a deeper understanding of health and wellness, which he now offers his patients.

In addition to treating patients, Dr. Lewis has taught weight loss resistance and

integrative medicine to wellness providers and personal trainers through the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education. For two consecutive years, he was awarded Best Holistic Practitioner on Long Island by the Long Island Pulse, and he has served as a featured expert on Long Island News 12 for reports related to Thyroid Health, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Gluten Sensitivity, Diabetes, Weight Loss, Nutrition and Lifestyle, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and more.

Dr. Lewis, who recently moved to Tampa with wife and two daughters, has delivered over one hundred health presentations to corporations, local organizations, schools, hospitals, and support groups covering a wide range of medical and nutritional topics.

Dr. Lewis is excited to join Dr. Erica Lopez and add nutritional services to her practice.
